-tony is terrified for peter, again. he knows what it’s like to be held hostage and he doesn’t want peter to feel like that even for a second, let alone the very real possibility that peter will die here

-the ridiculously large gun he then threatens drax with

-mantis saving her bff from himself and her adorable little hop

-stephen’s absolute confidence in tony’s technology. alien who we’ve literally just met and have no idea about his capabilities? yeah, tony can take him nbd

of course! this is something tony would understand immediately and intimately. from the moment they meet tony recognises the cloak as a sentient being, just like friday, just like jarvis, just like the bots. tony sees and treats the cloak as sentient from the very beginning because he knows it is, it may be magic but it’s very like dum-e or u. and this is why the cloak likes tony! it’s pretty clear the cloak likes tony from their interactions with peter and i think it stems from this moment where tony immediately talks to the cloak as if it’s a person

i can’t believe tony stark woke up that morning and put on nanotech sunglasses on the off chance that he could take them off dramatically and they would merge into his new badass suit that also happens to emphasise his slim hips and excellent booty. i stan a legend

also sidenote: the fucking symbolism of The Sunglasses, his metaphorical armour, physically becoming part of his physical armour??? holy shiiiiit

the way pepper just looks so very fearful, takes a deep heaving breath and grabs onto tony with both arms trying to keep him *here* and safe. the way she instantly and instinctually knows that world is coming to take him away again.

The world, or the need to save the world, takes Tony away from her, anyway. Pepper seew the grainy footage someone posted of Iron Man zooming toward the alien ship before it leaves the planet. She is paralysed in her seat, watching her fiancé disappear into the vastness of space once more. In 2012, Tony returned minutes after disappearing through the wormhole. This time, Pepper waits and waits and waits – even as the world around her descends into chaos. Half of all sentient life turn to dust overnight. Colleagues. Co-workers. Friends. Happy. All gone without so much as a goodbye or a see you soon. The only thing she remembers is the terror in their eyes, as they watched, as they felt their own demise. Still, Pepper hopes that Tony is alive; that he is out there somewhere in space. Maybe he’s trapped. Or hurt. Or having the time of his life cruising the inner rims of the Galaxy. After all, the Avengers have survived the catastrophe. Rhodey has made it out alive. Hell, even the talking raccoon she sees around the Compound is there. So, why not Tony? The alternative is too painful to consider.

and the way tony is so close to her in the first gif but so far away in the second but he’s still reaching out and clinging to her because he knows what he has to do but he really doesn’t want to leave her either

That is still not the worst of it.

Valkyrie is more familiar with the boundary between life and death than most, an unwanted relic from the old days, and she knows the look of those who are already gone even as their heart still beats. Tony had that look before the battle even started.

That is the worst of it, and Valkyrie feels no shame in preventing Peter from seeing it.
